The month of March not only means chilly weather in our fair city, but it also calls for the annual AAF-Cleveland Chili Cook-Off. This year, 12 local marketing agencies and vendors will be competing against one another to see who holds the title for the best chili recipe.
This year’s battle will take place this Thursday, March 8, from 6:00-8:30pm at The Hipp. Located in the Agora, The Hipp is one of Cleveland’s newest restaurants, featuring an array of modern American dishes. The restaurant can be accessed from the lobby with entrances on both Euclid and Prospect. There is also a large (free!) parking lot on Prospect.
Tickets are available for $10, which includes one free drink ticket. You can purchase tickets at aafcleveland.com before the event or at the door the night of.
If you don’t work in the advertising/marketing industry, but love chili, please don’t be a stranger! This event is open to everyone!
i’m baaaaaaaaaaack! my mind is still in shock from to much relaxation. i actually need more sleep after heavy doses of doing nothing but sitting in sand or lounging poolside. weird, ehh?
that said, my mexico recap will have to wait. why? because i need to tell you about one of the hottest parties of the year in cle! get your passports ready because its jump back ball time!
PlayhouseSquare is one of cle’s finest treasures and every year they host an amazeballs benefit which typically involves some of the cities most influential, generous and creative individuals. i have attended this bash a couple times and unfortunately missed out last year, but you can read all about it on my friend alexa’s blog here.
so my point is, you should go! get tickets and have one hell of a night. even better, next week on tuesday 11/16, you can purchase tickets at a much lower price at the kickoff party. tickets on this night only will be $120 with no handling fees. there is a 2 ticket limit per person that night, so keep that in mind. after the kickoff party, tickets will increase to $140, plus handling fees. that’s a good deal, yo!
the kickoff party will be held downtown at zinc, which is located at 668 euclid ave. party starts at 6 pm and ends at 8 pm. i will be there and you should be too!
for more information and to purchase tickets, you can click here. there will also be complimentary appetizers, drink specials and valet parking at zinc, so you have no excuse to miss it!
i am getting really excited for ingenuityfest this weekend. starting tomorrow, hundreds of artists, musicians and performers will gather on the lower level of the detroit superior bridge to create a magical, unique treat for the masses. and this year, the entire event is free!
if you have not been in the subway catacombs of the bridge, you must go simply to see this great urban space. combining the space with art, music, lighting, dance and technology really create quite a scene. walking across the span of the bridge is also a treat in itself. as you walk towards the middle, the steel grates you stand upon provide an intense (and frightening) view of the cuyahoga river below.
this year, a “lifeline waterfall” installation will create a very cool backdrop to the event. and since i am a huge fan of anything that has to do with water, i will most likely stand next to this installation for quite some time.
is it weird that i like running water? i remember as a young lad, i would make it a point to sneak into the bathroom when someone was showering and set a pillow and blanket on the floor. i would just lay there and often nap because i simply loved the sound. or maybe it’s just odd that i snuck into the bathroom when someone was showering. to this day i sometimes consider napping on the bathroom floor when i turn the shower faucet on. i know. i sound a little crazy.
the weather is looking pretty nice for the weekend, so make sure you visit the 2010 ingenuityfest!
